BES-Net TT Insect Sampling and Bee Identification Training Workshop (September 2022)

This workshop was hosted by the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network Trinidad & Tobago (BES-Net TT). It aimed to equip persons with relevant knowledge and skills in key aspects of insect pollinator sampling that will build local capacity for identification and conservation of pollinator species in Trinidad and Tobago. Future Proof 2022: Facilitating Discussions on Eco-Innovation for Sustainable Waste Management (28 September 2022)

This event was hosted by The Trinidad & Tobago Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) on 28th September 2022. It aimed to facilitate stakeholder discussions to encourage and sustain innovation in the Waste Management Sector, required for transitioning from landfilling to resource maximization.Two executive members attended, and one member co-presented on the topic ‘Steelpan as an Eco-innovation’ with SWMCOL.

Agri Investment Forum and Expo II (21 August 2022)

The Caribbean Region’s second Agri Investment Forum and Expo was held at Queens Park Savannah, Trinidad and Tobago, from Friday 19th – Sunday 21st August 2022, under the theme ‘Transforming Agriculture through Innovation and Investment.The Agri-Investment Expo was a village style exhibition that featured more than 300 exhibitors from across the Agriculture Sector with a widely educational, interactive and engaging display of products, attractions and technological advancements. Climate Justice Awareness Week (05 June 2022 – 11 June 2022)

The first event since the chapter’s re-establishment. This event was funded by a grant obtained from CYEN’s Regional Headquarters. This event/ activity entailed two major segments: 1. Climate Talks: Pillars of Justice:This segment involved a 3-day virtual Climate Justice Conference entitled ‘Climate Talks: Pillars of Justice’. We discussed the 6 pillars of Climate Justice with various local environmental organizations who formed our expert panel. 2. Moringa Seedling Distribution:This segment involved a short Climate Justice lecture and moringa seedling distribution in collaboration with The Carbon Sync, a local NGO, to pupils of St. Joseph’s Convent, St. Joseph, a local secondary school.

Stakeholder Consultation on the Updating of the National Climate Change Policy of Trinidad and Tobago (June-July 2022)

Various national consultations were held by the Ministry of Planning and Development on the updating of the National Climate Change Policy of Trinidad and Tobago.Three members attended the Youth Stakeholder Consultation on 21st June 2022 while two members attended the General Stakeholder Consultation on 12th July to provide input on the proposed amendments. Partnership Initiative on Sustainable Land Management (PISLM) Pre-COP 15 Meeting (22 April 2022)

In preparation for the Conference of the Parties to the PISLM, two members advocated for and presented on the CYEN TT’s behalf on youth issues and involvement in sustainable land management at PISLM High Level Meeting on Friday 22nd April, 2022. The British High Commissioner at the NGO Consultation with members of several other NGOs, including Event Coordinator for CYEN in T&T, Nyoka Morris.
